Chase Rice Signals Return After Surprise Hiatus: “Back in the Studio”
Country fans may not have to wait much longer for new music from Chase Rice.
Earlier this year, Rice surprised fans when he stepped away from the stage, raising questions about what might come next for the singer-songwriter. Now, a new update shared through social media suggests the hiatus may already be entering a new chapter — and the studio lights are officially back on.
“Back in the studio,” Rice wrote in a recent Instagram post, offering a glimpse into where both his schedule and mindset appear to be heading.
The update arrives after a period Rice described as unexpectedly transformative. According to the singer, stepping away from constant touring gave him time to reset, though a pair of major performances quickly reminded him what he missed.
“Some time off at the start of the year, then right into Red Rocks and Stagecoach was wild,” Rice wrote. “I was having FUN on the stage again. I know it hasn’t been long, but it made me miss it.”
For artists who spend years moving between buses, arenas, festivals, and recording sessions, pauses can sometimes provide clarity that nonstop momentum cannot. Rice's comments suggest that stepping back may have reignited some of the excitement that constant touring occasionally wears down.
And for now, the plan appears refreshingly uncomplicated.
Rice laid out an almost stream-of-consciousness list of what comes next: spending time with friends and family, golfing, fishing, traveling, writing, recording, watching The Chosen, and occasionally enjoying a drink — followed humorously by “not drink.”
The line felt less like a formal career update and more like an artist allowing fans into real life for a moment.
Perhaps the most interesting part came at the end.
“I don’t know what that’s gonna do for these songs,” Rice wrote, “but I can’t wait to find out.”
That uncertainty may actually excite fans most.
Throughout his career, Rice has shifted stylistically across projects, balancing radio country success with more personal and stripped-down songwriting. Time away often changes artists in unexpected ways, and listeners frequently hear those shifts reflected once new music arrives.
While no release date or project details accompanied the update, one thing suddenly seems much clearer:
Chase Rice may have stepped away briefly — but he does not sound finished.
He sounds inspired.
