Producer Perry Levinski Releases 18-Song AI-Generated Rhythm & Blues Album
Perry Levinski, a music producer from Kirkland Lake, has launched a new rhythm‑and‑blues album titled The Robbie Row Band. The 18‑track collection, completed in 2026, is now available on major streaming services and YouTube.
The project began with Levinski’s own archive of unreleased R&B songs. He chose to publish the entire set, noting that the material had been written over several years. Because the original recordings varied in volume, Levinski remixed each one to create a uniform sonic experience.
Finding a vocalist for the full slate proved difficult. Local singers declined to record for free, and Levinski did not have the budget for a professional vocalist. Faced with this limitation, he turned to artificial intelligence. He supplied the AI program with parameters for vocal range, style, and nuance, then fed in the lyrics. The resulting lead vocal track, which Levinski described as “amazing,” was used on every song.
Levinski handled harmony on more than half of the tracks and collaborated with local musician Chris Ackles on one song. Instrumentation was entirely studio‑based: digital drums and a Roland Integra 7 synthesizer supplied the rhythmic and melodic foundation.
The use of AI has drawn criticism from some listeners. An older‑generation fan who heard one of the songs remarked that the vocals were “not real.” Levinski replied that while the AI voice was synthetic, the majority of the production—instrumentation, harmony, and mixing—was performed by him.
He compared the approach to contemporary film and television production, where AI and other technologies create realistic scenes that are not physically captured. Levinski suggested that audiences should accept synthetic elements as part of modern creative workflows.
Beyond The Robbie Row Band, Levinski has indicated plans to release additional catalogues in a similar format. He expects future releases to contain fewer tracks, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
The album illustrates a growing trend in the music industry: the integration of AI tools for vocal synthesis and production. While AI‑generated vocals can reduce costs and streamline workflows, they also raise questions about authenticity and artistic ownership.
In summary, Perry Levinski’s The Robbie Row Band demonstrates how a producer can combine traditional R&B songwriting with AI‑generated vocals and digital instrumentation. The release on streaming services and YouTube makes it accessible to a broad audience, and Levinski’s future plans suggest that AI will continue to play a role in his creative output.
