Psycroptic Releases New Video for Ashes Of A New Dawn Ahead of The Pulse Of Annihilation Album

Australian technical death metal outfit Psycroptic premiered a new music video for the track “Ashes Of A New Dawn” on July 16 2026. The video, directed by NJV Media, arrives a day before the band’s ninth studio album, The Pulse Of Annihilation, is scheduled to drop on July 17 2026 through Metal Blade Records.

The clip opens with a slow, melodic intro that gradually escalates into the song’s signature aggressive riffing. Bassist Todd Stern described the track as “the type of song that gives you imagery as you listen. Slow, melty intro… next thing you know you have to run for your life.” Vocalist Jason Peppiatt added that lyrically the song continues the narrative of “Ashes Of Our Empire” from the Divine Council album, while musically it is “a total Joe Haley riff fest.” The video is available on YouTube and Metal Blade’s official channels.

The Pulse Of Annihilation marks Psycroptic’s first full‑length release on Metal Blade, a label known for its roster of extreme metal acts. The album follows the 2025 single “Architects Of Extinction” and represents a new chapter for the band, which has been active since 1999. The release schedule places the video as the second single, building momentum for the album’s launch. The track list for the album, available on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms, includes nine songs, with “Ashes Of A New Dawn” positioned as the opening track.

Musically, the song blends the band’s traditional technical precision with a heavier, sludge‑influenced section that showcases the duo of guitarists Joe and Dave Haley. The lyrical continuation from “Ashes Of Our Empire” ties the new material to the band’s earlier thematic concerns about power and decay. The video’s production values, featuring high‑contrast lighting and rapid cuts, reflect the intensity of the music and serve as a visual representation of the album’s title.

The release strategy aligns with the broader trend of technical death metal acts using short‑form video content to engage audiences ahead of album drops. Psycroptic’s partnership with Metal Blade also expands the label’s presence in the Australian market, where the band has toured extensively and supported international acts such as Incantation, Decapitated, and Misery Index. The new material is expected to be supported by a tour schedule that has not yet been announced.

As of now, the video is publicly available, and the album will be released on July 17 2026. Fans and industry observers will be watching to see how the new material performs on streaming charts and how the partnership with Metal Blade influences Psycroptic’s future touring and promotional plans.
