Logan Edwards Unveils Debut Solo EP Belong to Someone Else and Announces National Tour

Logan Edwards, the Aotearoa indie talent best known for his stints with The Beatniks, Ani Saafa and Chump Change, dropped his first solo EP, Belong to Someone Else, on 19 June 2026. The release follows a prolific songwriting burst that began in November 2025, when Edwards said he felt a pressing need to channel his emotions and seek redemption through music.

The five‑track EP weaves alt‑pop, indie rock and gentle folk into a cohesive narrative about detaching from the past and forging a new identity. Edwards chose a vintage approach, recording the songs live‑to‑tape on an old machine and feeding the signal through a 1960s talkback microphone. The result is a raw, lo‑fi aesthetic that feels immediate and unpolished. The standout track, “Half Asleep,” was captured in a single take and left its slight imperfections on the final cut. Edwards described the song as a “deeply personal tribute to love and letting go,” and it serves as both a bonus track and an epilogue to the EP.

Before the full EP dropped, Edwards released two singles, “Isla” and “Worry.” Both found success on the Official Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles chart, with “Isla” climbing to the top spot on the SRN charts. Following the EP’s launch, a visualiser for “Half Asleep” – directed by Lily Knowles – circulated across social media, adding a visual layer to the record’s introspective mood.

To bring the music to life, Edwards is kicking off a six‑date national tour across the motu, backed by a full band. The tour will feature a special guest: Emily Esplin, the rising alt‑rock voice from Ōtepoti. The itinerary is: - 9 July – Rhyme X Reason, Wānaka - 10 July – Yonder, Queenstown - 17 July – Space Academy, Christchurch - 18 July – Pearl Diver, Dunedin - 23 July – San Fran, Wellington - 24 July – Big Fan, Auckland

Tickets are available through Under The Radar. Edwards will perform the EP’s tracks, the songs that inspired them, and excerpts from his earlier band work, offering audiences a full spectrum of his musical evolution.

The EP’s release and accompanying tour signal Edwards’ definitive move into a solo career and cement his growing stature in New Zealand’s music landscape. With lo‑fi production, chart‑winning singles, and a nationwide promotion strategy, Belong to Someone Else positions Edwards for sustained visibility and influence in the industry.
