Chanel Beads Releases Second Album Your Day Will Come Through Jagjaguwar

Shane Lavers, performing under the moniker Chanel Beads, has released his second full‑length album, Your Day Will Come, on Jagjaguwar. The record follows his 2024 debut of the same title and expands on the experimental pop‑rock blend that has earned him a reputation in New York’s indie scene.

The new album arrives after a series of singles and a tour announced in June 2024. In April 2026 Lavers released “Song for the Messenger” as a preview of the album, and the full record was made available on the same day. The release is positioned as a culmination of the sonic palette he has developed over the past decade, combining catchy hooks with dissonant noise and layered sampling.

Lavers’ work is noted for its “panoramic” sound that moves from straightforward rock structures to experimental textures. Early singles such as “Ef,” “Police Scanner,” and “Male Friendship” showcase a groove‑based foundation that is then disrupted by swelling strings, chiming guitars, and intense samples. Critics have highlighted the emotional density of his lyrics, which often revolve around an unstable core that feels both aching and expansive.

The album’s production reflects Lavers’ dual role as musician and producer. He records on a laptop and then manipulates the tracks in the studio, a process that often surprises collaborators. String player Zachary Paul has remarked that the final mix can be difficult to parse, with elements of his performance and Lavers’ edits blending seamlessly. Lavers also incorporates unconventional sampling; for example, the track “Outside Your Life” features a stock audio clip of a man sobbing, inserted to mirror and subvert the song’s cathartic intent.

Beyond the studio, Lavers has expanded his live presence. He opened for Lorde on her Ultrasound world tour and has performed at larger venues, moving from intimate club settings to arenas. Audience reactions have varied, with some listeners describing the music as hopeful and reassuring, while Lavers himself notes a sense of the opposite. The contrast underscores the tension between the music’s outward accessibility and its underlying complexity.

The album’s lyrical content continues Lavers’ exploration of personal grief and resilience. The track “Tyler Richard” references the late brother of Lavers, who died at 19 from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. The song portrays a dream encounter with the deceased, using spiraling synths and screamed samples to convey the emotional weight. In contrast, “Silver Cup,” featuring lead vocals from co‑vocalist Maya McGrory, offers a more romantic tone, with bright guitars and emotive lyrics that highlight the collaborative strength between the two artists.

Jagjaguwar, an independent label based in Bloomington, Indiana, has released the album under its roster that includes artists such as Bon Iver and Sharon Van Etten. The label’s support has allowed Lavers to maintain creative control while reaching a broader audience.

The release of Your Day Will Come marks a significant moment for Chanel Beads, solidifying his position as a crossover artist who blends indie experimentation with mainstream appeal. The album’s availability on major streaming platforms and its inclusion in recent critical reviews signal its impact on both the indie and pop music landscapes.

Current status: The album is available for purchase and streaming through Jagjaguwar’s distribution channels. No further tour dates have been announced at this time.
