Airbourne Releases Self-Titled Sixth Album and Drops New Kid In A Candy Store Video

Airbourne, the Australian hard‑rock quartet from Warrnambool, released their sixth studio album, Airbourne, on 28 August 2026 through Spinefarm Records. The self‑titled record follows the band’s 2019 release Boneshaker and marks the longest gap between studio albums in their career.

The album was recorded entirely in Australia, with the majority of sessions taking place at Music Farm Studio near Byron Bay. The studio is noted for its original Neve console, which was used on early AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and The Angels recordings, and for housing Malcolm Young’s eight‑track Neve equipment. Production was handled by Canadian producer Brian Howes, who previously worked with the band on Black Dog Barking (2013). Engineering was done by Mike Fraser, known for his work with AC/DC and Metallica, while mixing was completed by Zakk Cervini, who has credits with Bring Me The Horizon and Evanescence. Mastering was performed by Ted Jensen.

The band’s lineup on the record includes Joel O’Keeffe (lead vocals and lead guitar), Ryan O’Keeffe (drums), Justin Street (bass), and new rhythm‑guitarist Brett Tyrrell, who joined the group in 2023 after a succession of rhythm players. The album’s 12 tracks are:

1. Gutsy 2. Alive After Death (Last Plane Out) 3. Here She Comes 4. Kid In A Candy Store 5. Sky High 6. Who Put The Rhythm In You? 7. Christmas Bonus 8. Last Man Standing 9. Rock ‘N’ Roll Ya 10. Bogotá 11. Hells Got No Vacancy 12. Send Me To Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven

The band released a music video for the fourth advance track, “Kid In A Candy Store,” on the same day as the album. Directed by P.R. Brown, the video blends footage from the recording sessions with wildlife imagery that reflects the band’s experience on the Byron Bay property, where they encountered hazardous wildlife and a tropical storm during the sessions.

The album’s single “Alive After Death (Last Plane Out)” achieved notable airplay, reaching No. 1 on German Rock Radio. The track was also highlighted as a key promotional single ahead of the album’s release.

“Here She Comes” was co‑written with Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange, and its lyrics were inspired by a tropical storm that struck the Music Farm studio during the recording period. According to band member Ryan O’Keeffe, the storm’s intensity helped shape the song’s energy.

Production notes emphasize the band’s commitment to a guitar‑led hard‑rock sound. Joel O’Keeffe described the album as a culmination of a long‑term effort, stating that the band had been “building a rocket” and was now ready to launch it.

The release of Airbourne continues the band’s relationship with Spinefarm Records, which has distributed all of their studio albums since Runnin’ Wild (2007). The album is available for purchase and streaming through the label’s standard channels.

Airbourne’s discography prior to Airbourne includes:

Runnin’ Wild (2007) – peaked at No. 21 on the ARIA Albums Chart No Guts. No Glory. (2010) – peaked at No. 19 in Australia and No. 4 in Germany Black Dog Barking (2013) – peaked at No. 17 in Australia and No. 5 in Germany Breakin’ Outta Hell (2016) – peaked at No. 13 in Australia, No. 3 in Germany and No. 9 in the UK Boneshaker* (2019) – peaked at No. 14 in Australia and No. 7 in Germany

The new album’s release marks the first time the band has recorded a full‑length studio project in Australia since Runnin’ Wild. The choice of studios and vintage equipment was intended to connect the record with the country’s hard‑rock heritage.

Airbourne’s latest release is now available through Spinefarm Records and can be streamed on major platforms. The band’s official website and social media channels provide additional content, including the “Kid In A Candy Store” video and behind‑the‑scenes footage from the recording sessions.
