The Rubens Announce Sixth Album Group Therapy and 14-Date Australian Tour
The Rubens are back, and this time they’re taking their sound on the road. The Menangle‑born alternative‑rock outfit has unveiled Group Therapy, their sixth studio album, slated for release in 2026, and a 14‑date national tour that will begin in Sydney on 16 October and wrap up in Wagga Wagga on 12 December.
The tour will weave through capital cities, regional hubs and suburban venues across New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia. Ticket prices will be set to reflect the cost‑of‑living environment in each locale, a move the band says keeps their shows accessible to fans everywhere.
The first single, “Love Me America”, opens the new record with a dense guitar intro that evolves into an acoustic interlude before swelling into full‑blown rock. The track is a nuanced love letter to the United States, a country that has shaped the Rubens’ career since they recorded their debut album in New York. Frontman Sam Margin describes it as “a love song to America, but not a simple one. It’s about the scale of its promise, the thrill of chasing something big, and the strange desire to belong somewhere that can still feel just beyond your reach.” Keyboardist Elliott Margin echoed that the relationship has persisted, even as the band struggled to establish a lasting presence across the Atlantic.

Since forming in 2011, the Rubens have released five studio albums before Group Therapy. Their self‑titled debut entered the ARIA Charts at number 3 in 2012, Hoops (2015) debuted at number 2 and later earned multi‑Platinum certification, LO LA RU (2018) reached number 3, and 0202 (2021) peaked at number 1. The 2024 release SODA was supported by a 28‑date regional tour that drew more than 30,000 fans, underscoring the band’s commitment to audiences beyond the capital cities.
The 2026 tour arrives as the Rubens celebrate their 16th year together. Their catalogue now includes five studio releases, multiple ARIA‑certified singles, major festival appearances and international touring. By treating regional venues as integral to the national circuit, the band continues to redefine how Australian acts engage with fans across the country.
Group Therapy will drop in 2026, with the tour kicking off on 16 October. Tickets are available through the band’s website, and additional dates may be added later in the year.
