BIGBANG to Release 20th-Anniversary Digital Single "BiiiG" on August 19, 2026
On the exact date that marked the start of a Korean pop phenomenon, South Korean boy band BIGBANG will re‑enter the charts with a fresh digital single, "BiiiG," scheduled for release on August 19, 2026. The track drops at 6 p.m. KST and will be available across all major streaming services.
The single is the centerpiece of a two‑decade celebration that extends beyond music. Two days after the release, the trio—G‑Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung—will kick off a 31‑show world tour titled XX: Cosmos. The first stop, Goyang Stadium in Goyang, South Korea, opens on August 21, and the tour will wind through key markets in Asia, North America, Europe and Australia before concluding in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on February 28, 2027.
BIGBANG’s current lineup has been streamlined to three members. The group debuted in 2006 with five members, but Seungri retired in 2019 and T.O.P departed in 2023. Despite those departures, the remaining trio has kept the group’s reputation as a pillar of the Korean Wave.
The teaser images that YG Entertainment released on August 10 show the three artists in a high‑contrast, stylized setting that harks back to the group’s early visual aesthetic. The title, stylized as BiiiG, plays on the band’s name while underscoring the celebratory nature of the release.
In addition to the single and tour, YG announced a 20th‑anniversary media exhibition, COSMOS, which will run from August 24 to September 27 at Dududu Seoul. The exhibition will showcase AI, XR, AR and 3D motion graphics, and will be complemented by an immersive experience at Lotte World Mall.
The release follows a long period of inactivity. BIGBANG’s last studio album, Made, debuted in 2016, and their most recent tour, Last Dance, wrapped up in December 2017. Since then, the members have focused on solo ventures, making the 2026 comeback the first group activity in almost ten years.
Industry observers note that the timing of the release and tour aligns with a broader pattern of legacy K‑pop acts leveraging anniversary milestones to reconnect with global audiences. The group’s historical chart success—eleven singles topping South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart and 140 million digital and physical sales worldwide—provides a solid foundation for the upcoming promotion.
All rights to the single are managed by YG Entertainment’s publishing arm, and the track will be distributed through YG’s channels. Streaming will be immediate on Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms.
No additional promotional material, such as a music video or live performance footage, has been announced. YG has not yet disclosed specific dates for promotional appearances or radio interviews.
The 20th‑anniversary package, which bundles the single, world tour and exhibitions, is poised to generate significant media coverage and fan engagement across Asia and beyond. The group’s return coincides with the launch of the XX: Cosmos tour, positioning BIGBANG for a comprehensive global campaign.
At this stage, the single’s release date, time and distribution channels are confirmed, while further details on promotional activities remain pending. The industry will watch closely as BIGBANG re‑enters the market after a long hiatus.
