Gulf Shores Announces 2026 Sunset Series: Free Fall Concerts at Gulf Place
The City of Gulf Shores has released the 2026 lineup for its annual Sunset Series, a free outdoor concert series that will take place on the Town Green at Gulf Place. The series will run on September 3, September 10, and September 17, 2026, with all shows beginning at 5 p.m. and featuring a mix of local vendors, food trucks, and family‑friendly activities.
The first two concerts will begin with a live DJ from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The September 17 show will feature live music for the full three hours, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. All events are open to the public at no charge.
The September 3 concert will open with Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band. Carrier, a third‑generation Zydeco artist from the Carrier family, has performed for 36 years and was awarded a Grammy in 2010 for Best Zydeco or Cajun Album of the Year. He has toured internationally and now focuses on teaching Zydeco gospel in schools.
On September 10, the lineup will feature Spank the Monkey, a Louisiana‑based band that debuted in 1995. The group is known for high‑energy performances that blend 1990s and 2000s rock covers with original material. Their song “Sweet Daisy” was the most requested track on 96.5 Planet Radio for three months.
The final concert on September 17 will host the Frank Brown Songwriters Showcase, a preview event for the upcoming Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. The Wilson Brothers will open from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by Nashville hit songwriter Craig Campbell and Gulf Coast favorite Johnny Hayes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Campbell, who launched Grindstone Recordings in 2020, released a new album in 2023 and has raised over $1 million for colorectal cancer causes. Hayes, an independent singer‑songwriter from Mobile, Alabama, has earned recognition for his work in alternative country and has performed with several major‑label artists.
City Recreation & Cultural Affairs Director Grant Brown said the series “continues to blend the beauty of Gulf Place Public Beach with free entertainment for everyone to enjoy.” The event will also feature local vendors and a food truck line, with the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber selling beverages for all ages.
The Sunset Series is part of Gulf Shores’ broader effort to promote community engagement and tourism. The Town Green at Gulf Place, located at 101 Gulf Shores Pkwy, is a popular gathering spot that offers views of the white‑sand beach and the Gulf of Mexico.
