Poison The Preacher Teams with SPEEDs Jem Siow on New Single "Things I Want" Ahead of July 17 EP Release
Poison The Preacher—Colombia’s hard‑core‑thrash hybrid known for blending Latin grit with global aggression—has unveiled a fresh single, “Things I Want,” featuring the fierce vocals of Jem Siow, frontman of Australia’s hardcore outfit SPEED. The track will anchor the band’s upcoming EP, also titled Things I Want, slated for release on July 17 via independent label Seek And Strike.
The partnership emerged organically after Poison The Preacher shared a stage with SPEED on the latter’s Latin American tour. Guitarist‑vocalist Juan Pablo Carrera recalled the moment: "We first met SPEED when we played with them on their Latin American tour. I’ve stayed in touch with Jem and this collaboration naturally followed. He loved our live performance and was psyched about us. The day after the show we hung out all day in Bogotá, showing them around, and that’s when Jem told me he wanted to do the collab. He asked if we could still make it happen when he got back from tour, and it was on the edge of being too late, but we managed to pull it off because we love Speed and after meeting them we became good friends, so it was logical to make this collab ASAP."
The EP follows the band’s 2025 debut album Vs The World and continues its reputation for genre‑blending heaviness. The title track delivers the band’s trademark blend of aggressive riffing and melodic hooks, while Siow’s raw vocal style injects a distinct hardcore edge that elevates the song’s intensity.
Seek And Strike, which has roster spots for acts such as Upon A Burning Body and Cellar Twins, is known for championing high‑energy metal and crossover acts. Signing Poison The Preacher fits the label’s focus on boundary‑pushing heaviness.
The single was first highlighted in a May 14 video premiere of another EP track, “Chicken Out,” which also received a music video. That release helped build anticipation for the full EP, and the addition of a high‑profile guest vocalist is expected to broaden the record’s reach.
While the full tracklist remains undisclosed, the inclusion of a SPEED guest spot signals the band’s willingness to collaborate across geographic and stylistic borders. Poison The Preacher has already earned a reputation as one of South America’s most exciting heavy‑music acts, and this cross‑continental partnership underscores that standing.
On July 17 the EP will be available on major streaming platforms and in physical formats through Seek And Strike’s distribution network. Listeners will hear how Colombian aggression and Australian hardcore merge on the title track.
No additional singles or promotional videos have been announced yet. Fans and industry observers can expect further details on the band’s official social media channels and the label’s website as the release date approaches.
In short, Poison The Preacher’s new single “Things I Want” featuring Jem Siow of SPEED will appear on an EP due July 17 via Seek And Strike, exemplifying the band’s history of genre experimentation and touring partnerships.
