BMAC and America250 Launch Voices of Tomorrow Initiative, Selecting Five Artists for New York Mentorship

The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) and the America250 250th‑anniversary program have announced a new initiative, “Voices of Tomorrow,” which will provide a week‑long mentorship and networking program in New York for five emerging artists. The program is scheduled to take place in June, ahead of Juneteenth celebrations, and is part of BMAC’s broader effort to support Black creators as the United States marks its 250th anniversary.

BMAC, founded in 2020, is a nonprofit that works to address systemic racism in the music industry. Its president and CEO, Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, said the organization has a responsibility to identify the next generation of Black music leaders. “These artists are more than talented musicians…they are storytellers, culture makers, and architects of the future,” Stiggers told reporters. The initiative aligns with America250’s mission to highlight the cultural contributions that have shaped the nation.

The five artists were chosen from a nationwide pool of applicants. They represent a range of genres—including country, R&B, hip‑hop, funk, and crossover styles—and each has built a career that extends beyond traditional music production.

* Dani Wright – A New Orleans native, Wright began singing in church before establishing herself as a songwriter and recording artist. She has worked with a variety of writers and producers and has pursued projects in television and film. Wright’s career illustrates the challenges faced by Black artists in the country music scene.

* DJ Stussy – Based in Los Angeles, Stussy started as a drummer and later taught himself piano and production. He attended Miles College on a choir scholarship and has worked as an educator and performer. His music blends humor and personal experience, and he has gained a broader audience through viral online moments.

* Jastin Martin – A Houston‑based singer‑songwriter, producer, and guitarist, Martin has built a following through emotionally transparent songwriting. She was recently named a Billboard Artist to Watch and handles most aspects of her releases, from writing to production.

* RAHBI – From Atlanta, RAHBI is known for his funk and soul work. He founded the live‑music series STRANGE, which celebrates individuality, and has served as a music director for theater, television, and performance venues.

* The Reasn – Hailing from Columbia, Missouri, The Reasn is a singer‑songwriter whose soulful R&B style has earned national touring opportunities and appearances on major platforms. His recent releases focus on personal reflection and honesty.

The New York week will include mentorship sessions, networking events, and cultural programming designed to help the artists advance their careers. The program is positioned as a launchpad for the next phase of each artist’s work, providing industry connections and exposure.

BMAC’s “Voices of Tomorrow” initiative reflects a growing trend of organizations investing in Black creators who operate independently or build community‑focused platforms. By pairing the artists with mentors and industry professionals, BMAC aims to expand opportunities for representation and equity in music.

The initiative is part of a larger set of events organized by America250, which includes concerts, festivals, and educational programs across the country. The program’s timing—just before Juneteenth—highlights the intersection of cultural celebration and industry advancement.

At present, the five artists have confirmed their participation and are preparing for the New York week. BMAC has not announced specific dates for the mentorship sessions, but the organization has stated that the program will run for one week in June. The initiative is expected to conclude with a showcase event that will feature performances and panel discussions.

The “Voices of Tomorrow” program demonstrates BMAC’s commitment to fostering the next generation of Black music leaders as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary. The initiative’s focus on mentorship and networking aims to create lasting industry connections for the selected artists.
